As I stated we have 3 little ones and it just made us uneasy knowing these spiders are nesting in the cabin. And not just spiders, poisonous ones at that. We totally expected to see insects and such including spiders and came prepared with spray, but this is an infestation in the cabin and I would think owners would be under some obligation to ensure the properties are exterminated. I really don't think it was just a coincidence that she called now, she apparently knew. These spiders can cause extreme illness and death esp in children and when we saw the 3rd one we knew it was time to leave. This was our first visit to Broken Bow and we were so looking forward to it, but we weren't able to fully enjoy our stay being focused so much on our safety.
It ended up raining most of the weekend but we were still able to do some sightseeing.
My husband and I went to Broken Bow (Hochatown) for our 7 year anniversary after hearing some good things about it. We were a little iffy going somewhere new but we are so extremely grateful for the cabin we were able to stay in. It was EXTREMELY clean and smelled so nice. It was relaxing, and we really appreciated the hot tub water being drained after every guest. The guest book on the counter really made us feel like we made the right choice! Thank you so much Cabins in Broken Bow for being our home away from home! :)
Below is an email I sent to CIBB regarding our stay at the Monte Carlo. The office replied immediately stating they would inform the owner. Have not heard from the owner as of yet.
We stayed at Wine Down and had a great time!
Hello, my family booked the Monte Carlo from Wed to Sat and while the cabin is gorgeous and the view breathtaking, we decided to leave today. The cabin seems to be infested with brown recluse spiders.
We were sure what we saw in the pictures of the cabin on their website are not true but rather fake advertisements, shame on us though the cabin matched exactly like the pix %100 !!! We enjoyed the cabin as were crying by the departure time! We started imagining our next stays in the cabin during different times of the year ! All in all these cabin are like dream became true ! Such a valuable & unique experience the broken bow cabins gave us ! Thank you ...
We killed the first one in the sink upon our arrival on Wed. The following morning, the owner called first thing (out of the blue) and asked if the pest control guy could come and spray a wasp nest on the porch. I said sure, great timing and told her about the spider. She sounded shocked and would tell the guy to spray the inside as well.
The area is beautiful! We will definitely be back soon!
Before he could even arrive Thurs, we killed another one in a different sink. We were pretty uneasy at this point as there were 3 little kids with us. The pest control guy (Jimmy) said while he has serviced the owners other cabins, she has never let him spray this one, despite his urging. She apparently didn't think it needed spraying. Not sure I understand that logic. And when he finally did spray, all kinds of creatures appeared!
Stayed in the Pecan Cabin. Perfect sized cabin for the two of us. Had basic dish and cookware. Bench, fire pit, and grill right outside cabin. Coffee shop/convenience store is walking distance from campsite. Multiple hiking trails short drive away. Would definitely stay here again.
Please ensure something is done about Monte Carlo. Guests should be made aware of what they will encounter.
The cabin was very clean, cute decorations, great amenities, and convenient location.
